I am unsure. The page scans sometimes have "L. M." and sometimes have "L. N." There was a writer named "Thomas L. M. Tipton" who lived in Canada, but it is not clear that these are the same person. There is no evidence that "Thomas L. M. Tipton" wrote poetry. Since the hymnals that Tipton's name appears in were published in the midwest, it is more likely that the Tipton is from the U.S.
