74. Freedom to Us is Given

1 Freedom to us is given,
The path of life to choose,
A constant gift bestowed from heaven,
Which we too oft abuse.

Refrain:
Jesus alone in thee
Is perfect freedom found,
Oh, may we have this liberty,
And nevermore be bound.

2 Whene’er we yield to sin,
Ourselves in chains we bind,
The powers of Satan enter in,
And rule the heart and mind. [Refrain]

3 Lord, thou to us hast given,
To know the good from ill;
Oh, may we choose the path to heaven,
And do thy holy will. [Refrain]
