Text: | I Mercy will and judgment sing |
Author: | J. H. |
1 I Mercy will and judgment sing,
O Lord God, unto thee,
O let me understand the ways
that good and holy be.
2 Within my house I daily will
walk with an heart upright,
And I no kind of wicked thing
will set before my sight.
3 I hate their works, that fall away,
they shall not cleave to me,
From me shall go the froward heart,
no evil will I see.
4 Him I'll destroy that slandereth
his neighbour privily;
The lofty heart I will not bear,
nor him that looketh high.
5 My eyes shall be on them within
the land, that faithful be;
In perfect way who walketh, shall
be servant unto me:
6 I will no guileful person have
within my house to dwell,
And in my presence he shall not
remain that lies doth tell.
7 Betimes I will destroy ev'n all
the wicked of the land,
That I may from God's city cut
the wicked worker's hand.
