205. In the vineyard of our Father

1 In the vineyard of our Father,
Daily work we find to do;
Scattered gleanings we may gather,
Though we are but young and few;
Little clusters, Little clusters
Help to fill the garners too.

2 Toiling early in the morning
Catching moments through the day,
Nothing small or lowly scorning
While we work, and watch, and pray;
Gathering gladly
Free-will offerings by the way.

3 Not for selfish praise or glory,
Not for objects nothing worth,
But to send the blessed story
Of the Gospel o'er the earth,
Telling mortals
Of our Lord and Saviour's birth.

4 Steadfast, then, in our endeavour,
Heavenly Father, may we be;
And for ever, and for ever,
We will give the praise to thee;
Hallelujah
Singing, all eternity.
