1 When the smiling skies of spring
Send their sunshine down,
Then we scatter tiny seeds
In the furrows brown.

Welcome, happy days of spring,
In a merry throng!
All things o’er the joyous land,
Wake to life and song.

2 When the golden April light
Flushes in the skies,
Spring calls softly o’er the land,
“Little plants arise.” [Refrain]

3 Hear the footsteps of the rain
Pater o’er the land,
Soon the little plants arise
In a merry band. [Refrain]

4 Taller, taller still they grow;
Harvest days begin;
Soon the fruits from plant and bough
All are gathered in. [Refrain]
