127. Behold the Man

1 Behold the Prince and Savior,
Who giveth life and peace;
The leper’s cry he heareth,
The widow’s sorrows cease;
And lo! a voice from heaven,
‘’Tis my beloved Son,
O hear ye him,” he bringeth
Good new to ev’ry one.

Refrain:
Behold the Man, behold the Man,
He comes thy soul to save,
Behold the Man, behold the Man,
O haste and let him in.

2 Behold the Man of sorrows,
He stands before thee now,
With purple robe and thorn-crown.
With pierc’d and bleeding brow;
The throng cry, “crucify him,”
O soul, what hath he done
That thou shouldst join with sinners,
And spurn the holy One. [Refrain]

3 Behold a lovely Stranger
Before thy closed heart’s door,
Has waited long, still waiteth,
And knocketh o’er and o’er;
O swing the door wide open,
With blessings he has come
To fill thy life with gladness,
And guide thee to his home. [Refrain]
