130. Linger with me, Precious Savior

1 Linger with me, precious Savior,
Earthly joys are fading fast;
Lending, Lord, thy grace and favor
Till this fleeting life has passed.
Dearest friends around me gather,
Tho’ o’er some the grave has closed;
Heeding not the icy finger,
Calm their souls on thee reposed.

Refrain:
Linger with me, precious Savior,
Closely hold in thine my hand;
Linger with me, yes, still linger,
Till within Immanuel’s land.

2 Linger with me, precious Savior,
Let the western sunsets glow,
Rays of bright and shining brilliance
O’er my happy spirit throw.
Lighter, lighter be the evening,
When the day of life is done;
Dearer, dearer be thy presence,
With me at the set of sun. [Refrain]

3 Linger with me, precious Savior,
Let thine arms around me fold;
When the Jordan’s wave I enter
Do not then release thy hold.
When the bright eternal morning
Shall my glad free spirit wake,
Still be with me, O my Savior,
And my soul to glory take. [Refrain]
