51. Sowing the Golden Grain

1 We are sowing now of the golden grain,
The toiling time for us has come;
In the reaping time we may come again,
And gather for the harvest home.

We are sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing seeds of love.
Soon, ah! soon will come the reapers
To gather for the harvest home.

2 We will sow the seed with a busy hand,
With willing mind the ground prepare;
For the weeds will spring from the furrow’d land—

3 O! the fruitful seed we will gladly sow,—
The harvest we may never see;
But the golden grain for the truth will grow,
