Text: | Fair Rose of Sharon |
Author: | Miss Kate Ulmer |
Tune: | [Beautiful roses now bloom everywhere] |
Composer: | J. Lincoln Hall |
1 Beautiful roses now bloom ev’rywhere,
Filling with fragrance the soft balmy air;
Each lovely blossom to mem’ry doth bring,
Sharon’s fair Rose our Redeemer and King.
Fair “Rose of Sharon” thy beauty we seek,
Blooming to comfort the weary and weak;
Like unto thee in our lives we would grow,
Blest “Rose of Sharon” thy grace now bestow.
Refrain:
Fair Rose of Sharon, blooming in beauty,
Each lovely blossom thy praises sing,
We love thy fragrance spreading like sunshine,
Fair Rose of Sharon, Jesus our King.
2 Sweet valley lilies of fair spotless white,
Budding in lowliness, shrinking from sight;
In its chaste purity each voiceless bell,
Of Judah’s Lily Christ Jesus doth tell.
Blest “Valley Lily” spring up in our hearts,
Rare are the graces thy presence imparts;
Gentleness, meekness, humility, love,
Flowers transplanted to earth from above. [Refrain]
3 Gladly the children are singing today,
Praises uplifting in innocent lay;
Bright happy faces and hearts undefiled,
Telling of Nazareth’s wonderful child.
O, perfect pattern of childhood we pray,
Fill with thy spirit our young hearts this day;
Thee would we follow to mansions above,
Treading thy footprints and kept in thy love. [Refrain]
