Text: | Some Happy Day |
Author: | Eben E. Rexford |
Tune: | [In dreams I hear a song so sweet] |
Composer: | F. A. Blackmer |
1 In dreams I hear a song so sweet
That waking I would fain repeat
Its melody, but failing say,
“I’ll sing it, if God wills, some day.”
Chorus:
Some day, some day, some happy day,
When God shall wipe all tears away;
That day, that day so bright, I’ll sing
That heav’nly song before my King.
2 Tho' dim the vision of the throng,
And faint the echo of the song,
I seem to hear the voices say,
“’Twill all be real some happy day.” [Chorus]
3 It may be that I shall now know
The way, when comes my time to go;
But in my Father’s hand I’ll lay
My own, and He shall show the way. [Chorus]
4 “Some day,” I say in faith, and wait
The op’ning of the heav’nly gate;
Come soon or late, that time will be
The dawn of heav’n’s sweet rest for me. [Chorus]
