14. Bright Crowns

1 Bright crowns in heaven are shining
For those who have conquered in life’s bitter fight;
Green fields where saints are reclining,
And basking, all-glorious, in heaven’s own light.

Refrain:
Bright crowns they wear up in glory,
And wave victor’s palms on the bright golden shore;
Gladly they sing the old story,
And, blest with their Savior, they reign evermore.

2 Bright robes resplendent and glorious
Adorning the souls of the bright, happy band;
Loud songs, bright, glad and victorious,
Resound clear and sweet thro’ that beautiful land. [Refrain]

3 Bright harps, whose chords are all golden,
And strung, turned and struck by the blood-washed so fair;
Sweet notes so softly thro’ Eden
Are borne on the wings of the pure, balmy air. [Refrain]

4 Bright bells of silver are ringing,
Their peals sweetly mingling with angelic song;
The saints, made perfect, are singing
A song only sung by the sanctified throng. [Refrain]
