Text: | Watching for the Dawning |
Author: | Mrs. C. D. Martin |
Tune: | [We are watching for the dawning] |
Composer: | W. Stillman Martin |
1 We are watching for the dawning
Of the grand eternal morning,
When the saints shall be caught up to meet the Lord;
Till the roll is called up yonder
In that happy land of wonder,
And the “well done faithful servant” shall be heard.
Chorus:
We are watching for the dawning,
We are watching for the dawning of the day,
We are waiting for the morning,
We are waiting for the night to pass away.
2 Never from the pathway turning
With our lamps all brightly burning,
We are waiting for the dawn we love so well;
While we’re waiting for the glory,
We will spread the “old, old story”,
And the love of God to ev’ry creature tell. [Chorus]
3 As the crowning time draws nearer,
Our Redeemer grows the dearer,
For we soon expect His glorious face to see;
In the beauty bright and vernal,
In the glory, grand, eternal,
In the Kingdom of our Lord we soon shall be. [Chorus]
