1 By thy Cross, O Christ, and passion,
Thou hast brought us full salvation;
Thou hast stooped in great compassion
To redeem a lost creation.
Like a shepherd thou hast sought us
In thy heavenly fold to gather;
With thy precious Blood hast bought us
To restore us to the Father.
2 Ah, how blest is he who knoweth
That his faith on thee is founded
Whom the Father's love bestoweth
Through eternal grace unbounded.
Thou, O Christ, to every nation
Art a Saviour freely given,
In whose Name is our salvation,
And none else in earth or heaven.
