158. Over the Stars

1 Over the stars is a morning lit land
That is free from the ravage of time;
Tempests ne’er beat on its radiant strand,
Ages dim not its beauty sublime.

Chorus:
Over the stars, over the stars,
Is a beautiful city of gold;
And beyond its pearl gate
For our spirits await
Life eternal and glories untold.

2 Over the stars is the glorious home
Which our Savior has gone to prepare;
Safe in its mansions, no evil can come
To the purified ones dwelling there. [Chorus]

3 Over the stars there is rapture complete,
In which sorrows of earth leaven no trace;
Glad hallelujahs that angels repeat
Tell its sweetness thro’ heavenly space. [Chorus]

4 Over the stars is ineffable peace,
Never broken by heartache and strife;
Weariness, waiting, and murmuring cease
With the dawn of the pure endless life. [Chorus]

5 Over the stars there is infinite love,
Which eternity’s flight will not change,
Fathomless love! in the homeland above,
Naught from God can our spirits estrange. [Chorus]
