Text: | Be not deceived; each soul shall reap |
Author: | Harriet Fithian |
Tune: | [Be not deceived; each soul shall reap] |
Composer: | D. B. Towner |
1 Be not deceived; each soul shall reap
Its harvest soon or late;
Sow now thy seed; the field is wide,
The world is thine estate.
Refrain:
Be not deceived, be not deceived;
Got is not mocked;
For whatsoever a man soweth,
Whatsoever a man soweth,
That shall he also reap,
That shall he also reap.
2 Sow evil deeds with careless hand
And one sad day behold
Thy garner filled with blighted hopes,
And woes and hundred fold. [Refrain]
3 Sow deeds of faith and hope and love,
Perchance with falling tears,
A harvest home of peace and joy
Will crown the work of years. [Refrain]
4 God’s law will stand forevermore,
The law His love made known,—
From out the harvest field of life
We reap as we have sown. [Refrain]
