1 Repentant I wandered, a prodigal child,
Unclean, amid sorrow and shame;
But room was not left for the sins that defiled
My soul when the Comforter came.

Able, willing,
Now and forever the same;
My Saviour I’ll praise for the blessings He gave
My soul when the Comforter came.

2 The fire that He kindled, consuming my sin,
Still burns with a rapturous flame;
It glowed with a hallowing beauty within
My soul when the Comforter came. [Refrain]

3 I long to be telling the joy that was mine,
The blessing I found in that Name,
The peace that so flooded with glory divine
