1 Behold the Lamb of God on Calv’ry’s tree,
The Saviour crucified for you and me!
His agony and shame, His dying cry,
Can any heart forget? Shall you? Shall I?

He suffered for you,

Upon the cross of Calvary;

He died upon the cross for you and me.

2 For us the crown of thorns the Saviour wore,
The mocking and the scorn in silence bore;
His pierced hands reach out to bring us near;
O let His perfect love cast out all fear! [Refrain]

3 O Jesus, in Thy pain, Thy broken heart,
In all Thine agony, my sins had part;
In Thy redeeming love, Thy vict’ry won,
Thou givest me a share, O blessed Son! [Refrain]

4 The shadow of the cross is on my way,
The Saviour’s pleading voice I hear today;
I see His wounded hands, His riven side,
And cry, Lord, I believe! In Thee I hide. [Refrain]
