180. Wake Up!

1 The raindrops decided a frolic,
To wake up the flow’rs of the spring;
So down they came straight as an arrow,
Like tiny wee birds on the wing.

Refrain:
All the flow’rs were sleeping ‘neath the snow,
And they did not know it was time to grow,
Till the raindrops whispered “Tap, tap, tap!
Wake up! wake up from your winter’s nap.

2 They tapped at the trees and the bushes,
They bade them awaken to bloom;
They said “’Tis the coming of springtime,
And gone is the cold winters gloom.” [Refrain]

3 “The earth is awaiting your coming,
To welcome you, flow’rs of the spring;
And you must awaken in beauty,
As soon as the nature bells ring.” [Refrain]

4 “Wake up, now!” the rain gently whispered,
“The robin is building her nest;
Rise buttercup, vio’let and lily,
You ought to be up with the rest.” [Refrain]
