Text: | At the Beautiful Gate |
Author: | John R. Clements |
Tune: | [There sat by the beautiful temple gate] |
Composer: | Chas. H. Gabriel |
1 There sat by the beautiful temple gate
A soul in the thrall of sin;
His heart was heavy, so sore His fate,
He wished he might freedom win.
Refrain:
Though silver and gold I have none to give,
Yet this do I offer thee;
In the name of Jesus, the Christ, walk forth
From bondage forever free.
2 He sat by the beautiful temple gate,
As Jesus, the Christ, drew nigh;
He prayed for help, be it soon or late,
Hoped someone would hear his cry. [Refrain]
3 And there by the beautiful temple gate,
The servant of God that day
Broke down the bonds of that sad estate,
And spoke all his fears away. [Refrain]
