Text: | The Sunshine of God’s Love |
Tune: | [I journeyed oft with sadness and shadowy was the day] |
Composer: | W. A. Post |
1 I journeyed oft with sadness and shadowy was the day;
I longed for joy and gladness to brighten up the way;
I heard the old, old story of Him who reigns above,
And now I know the glory, the sunshine of God’s love.
Refrain:
I know, I know, I know it’s mine forever,
This gift from heav’n above I see
Is but the love of God for me;
I know, I know, I know it’s mine forever,
The light from heav’n I see is but the love of God for me.
2 O joy that liftest sadness! O love of God so sweet!
I ask no greater gladness that serving at His feet.
Tho’ sins around should tempt me, I ever look above,
And know that He will give me the sunshine of His love. [Refrain]
3 And if sometime a sorrow should glance across my way,
I know there’ll be a morrow, I’ll ask His grace today.
Forever shineth clearly the love of God divine;
I hold it very dearly, this precious gift of mine. [Refrain]
