LIX. O Almighty God of love

1 O almighty God of love,
Thy holy arm display!
Send us succour from above,
Against the evil day;
Arm our weakness with thy pow'r,
Woman's seed appear within!
Be my safeguard and my tow'r,
Against the face of sin.

2 Rock of my salvation, haste,
Extend thy ample shade,
Let it over me be cast,
And screen my naked head:
Save me from the trying hour;
Thou my sure protections be:
Shelter me from Satan's power,
Till I am fix'd on thee.

3 Set upon thyself my feet,
And make me surely stand;
From temptation's rage and heat,
Cover me with thine hand:
Let me in the cleft be plac'd;
Never from thy fence remove;
In thine arms of love embrac'd,
Of everlasting love.
