Author (stanzas): | John W. Work II, 1872-1925 |
Tune: | GO TELL IT |
Arranger: | John W. Work III |
Harmonizer and Adapter: | Melva W. Costen |
Refrain:
Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere;
Go, tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born.
1 While shepherds kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light.
2 The shepherds feared and trembled,
When lo! above the earth,
Rang out the angels chorus
That hailed our Savior's birth.
3 Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation
That blessed Christmas morn.
