Notes: | This setting lifts up the three quotations of the psalm, each beginning with a punctuated “The Lord . . . .” These are among the most quoted psalm verses in the NT. The accompaniment for the verses is best sung by an ensemble, taking care to launch the verse together with the solo voice on “The Lord.” The congregation joins in the singing of each refrain. Konstantin Zhigulin composes psalms and songs for the Church of Christ denomination in his native Russia. Just as in the Russian Orthodox Church, this music should be sung with full harmony, but without accompanying instruments. |
