1 The broken bread, the blessed cup,
On which we now are call'd to sup,
Without thy help and grace divine,
Will prove no more than bread and wine.
2 But come great Master of the feast,
Dispense thy grace to ev'ry guest;
Direct our views to Calvary,
And help us to remember thee.
3 Let us with light and truth be blest,
That on thy bosom we may rest;
And at thy supper each may learn,
Thy broken body to discern.
4 O that our souls may now be fed
With Christ himself the living bread;
That we the cov'nant may renew
And to our vows be rend'red true!
