Text: | He Carried My Sins |
Author: | R. M. H. |
Tune: | [In tender compassion the Son of God] |
Composer: | Roger M. Hickman |
1 In tender compassion the Son of God
Came from the throne above;
Fulfilling the promises in His word,
A seal of the Father’s love.
Refrain:
He carried my sins to the cross for me,
The hallowed cross of Calvary;
In sorrow and shame and humility
He sealed my pardon there.
2 All we, tho’ like sheep, having gone astray,
Wandering far from God;
Where sought by the Shepherd from day to day,
As He o’er the mountains trod. [Refrain]
3 Despised and rejected of men was He,
Yet loved them as His own;
He carried their sorrow and bore their grief,
And died for their sins to atone. [Refrain]
4 His work of atonement is now complete,
Once in the holy place
He sprinkled His blood on the mercy seat,
Thus sealing His work of grace. [Refrain]
