53. Mother's Gone

1 Mother's gone to that blest home,
Where the angels sweetly sing;
And I think I hear her voice,
Singing praises to her King.
Jesus bade her come to Him,
Where her light would never dim;
And where all is peace and love,
In that heav'nly home above.

Quartette:
Mother's gone to yonder city,
Far beyond the blue,
But I know that I will meet her;
Will you? O will you?

2 It was hard to give her up,
But the Lord's blest will be done!
Tho' we drink the bitter cup
Of a sorrow-stricken home,
We will go in prayer to God,
Where our souls can rest from care;
For we know that with our Lord
We will dwell with mother dear. [Quartette]

3 When death's angel came for her,
She was ready there to go;
And her soul to heav'n did soar,
Robed in garments white as snow.
Then the angels all did sing
Praises to the Lord and King,
For there's one more in their band,
In that holy, happy land. [Quartette]
