Text: | The Burden-Bearer |
Author: | Mrs. J. I. McC. |
Tune: | [One morning a burden dropped down on my heart] |
Composer: | Mrs. J. I. McClelland |
1 One morning a burden dropp’d down on my heart,
A burden too heavy to bear;
I took it to Jesus,
That He would impart
His grace, as I lingered in prayer.
Refrain:
He has taken the burden away,
He has taken the burden away,
All the cares and the trials that darkened the day,
From my heart He hast taken away.
2 ‘Twas more than I asked Him, the load to remove
When seeking for comfort that day;
Not always the wealth of His love do we prove
By failing to trust, as we pray. [Refrain]
3 O soul, with a burden, whatever it be,
Come, leave it with Jesus today;
When He takes the burden He sets the soul free,
And then you can sing, as you pray. [Refrain]
