1 Life is but a span in the measure of years,
Fraught with many fears,
Laughter, sigh and tears;
Thro’ it all our God still is waiting to bless
Even in a wilderness.
Refrain:
Feasting on manna from heav’n sent down,
Blessings like dew are falling.
Holding communion with the saints of God,
List’ning when His voice to me is calling;
Drinking of water that satisfies,
Resting when day is done,
Thankful for all a loving God supplies,
Contented I journey on.
2 Let me but abide in a cottage or tent,
With what God has sent,
I shall be content,
Knowing that a loud or a pillar of fire
Leads unto my soul’s desire. [Refrain]
3 Let me travel on, for there cometh a day,
God shall show the way,
When my soul shall stay,
Though it be a road that no other has trod,
It must lead at last to God. [Refrain]
