Text: | A Higher Life |
Author: | J. L. H. |
Tune: | [The cares and toils of life may come] |
Composer: | J. Lincoln Hall |
1 The cares and toils of life may come
And burdens on me roll,
Lord lift me to a higher life
Where naught can harm my soul.
Refrain:
A higher life, a broader love
To consecrated be,
Lord lift me up to better things
Where all is lost in thee.
2 Tho’ sorrows come and tempests beat
And all around is sin,
Yet, then despite the world’s dismay
I have a peace within. [Refrain]
3 Lord give me but a simple trust,
A faith on thee to call,
No matter what this life may bring
To live above it all. [Refrain]
4 Just now, O Lord, while waiting here
Thy promises fulfill
Give us the Pentecostal pow’r
To do thy holy will. [Refrain]
