Text: | Joy Overflowing |
Author: | Irvin H. Mack |
Tune: | [What tho' temptation's power] |
Composer: | Arthur Wilton |
1 What tho’ temptation’s power
Assails like tempest’s blast?
The world may shun my Saviour,
My faith in him holds fast!
Thro’ wildest opposition
One thing, by faith, I know;
That Jesus sweetly saves me—
All else, but this, may go.
Refrain:
There is joy overflowing,
There is joy overflowing,
There is joy overflowing,
In the service of my Lord!
2 There’s comfort in the knowledge,
There’s joy beyond compare;
My heart is filled with glory;
For Jesus dwelleth there!
Should shadows gather round me,
And earthly comforts flee,
I still will sin his praises;
He still will comfort me. [Refrain]
3 Whatever may betide me,
What labor, trial, pain,
If Jesus but sustains me,
‘Twill be eternal gain.
And when at last I meet him,
In glory, on his throne,
I’ll have a precious welcome:
He’ll claim me as his own. [Refrain]
