385. O What Their Joy and Their Glory Must Be

1 O what their joy and their glory must be,
as endless Sabbaths the blessed ones see:
Crowns for the valiant, for weary ones rest:
God shall be all, and in all ever blessed.

2 The true Jerusalem holy is there,
whose peaceful duties give joy free from care;
Where disappointment no heart can assail,
where each prayer whispered is heard without fail.

3 Longing for home now let every heart raise
prayers of devotion and anthems of praise;
From streams of sorrow we lift up our eyes,
to the blessed city, our home and our prize.

4 There is a Sabbath of unending light,
joyfully keeping that holy day bright,
We join in chanting the song without cease
with all the saints in that sweet realm of peace.
