Text: | While the Sun Is Shining |
Author: | T. A. Stowell |
Tune: | DAVID |
Composer: | Thomas Morley |
1. While the sun is shining
Brightly in the sky,
Ere the rays declining
Tell that night is high;
Ere the shadows falling,
Lengthen on our way,
Hark! a voice is calling,
"Work while it is day."
2. Work, but not in sadness,
For your Lord above;
He will make it gladness
With his smile of love.
When that Lord returning
Knocketh at the gate,
Let your light be burning,
Be like men who wait.
3. Happy then the meeting,
When you see His face;
Welcome then the greeting
From the throne of grace,
"Good and faithful servant,
Of my Father blest,
Now your work is ended,
Enter into rest."
