Text: | The other land |
Author: | Mrs. A. L. Davison |
Tune: | [Somewhere beyond the vision] |
Composer: | J. H. F. |
1 Somewhere beyond the vision,
Of our despairing eyes,
Within the land elysian,
The hills of glory rise;
Refrain:
What words can tell the beauty
Of that celestial land,
The city God hath builded
By his almighty hand.
2 And softly, sweetly, flowing,
A river windeth fair,
Thro' all the golden glory
That reigns forever there;
Refrain:
And of those shining waters,
The dying souls of men
Shall drink with endless rapture,
And, drinking, live again.
3 When thro' the golden portal,
At last we enter in,
Thro' him who hath redeemed us,
A fadeless crown we win;
Refrain:
And in that world of beauty,
With all the ransomed throng,
We'll join with ceaseless rapture,
The everlasting song.
