1 Now to heaven our cry ascending,
God speed the right!
In a noble cause contending,

May we live our lives before Thee,
Like the good and great in story,
If we fail we fail with glory,

2 Patient, firm, and persevering,

No event or danger fearing,

Pains, nor toils, nor trials heeding,
Never from the truth receding,
And in heaven's own time succeeding,

3 Still our onward course pursuing,

Every foe at length subduing,

Truth! thy cause, whate'er delay it,
