Text: | When the Night Shades Are Falling |
Author: | M. B. J. |
Tune: | [When the night shades gently are falling] |
Composer: | Mrs. Maude B. Jacobs |
1 When the night shades gently are falling,
And the lights softly glow in the sky,
Then I think of the home over yonder,
And it seems to be so near by.
Refrain:
O the glory waiting in the homeland,
When our day’s work here is done!
We will be safe home with the Father,
And no sorrow shall ever come.
2 Whatever the task that is given,
I will faithfully labor on;
Contented if, when it is finished,
The Father shall say “Well done.” [Refrain]
3 And when my day here is ended,
And the twilight of life I’ve won,
I will face toward home in the evening,
And wait for the lights to come. [Refrain]
