The best-loved expressions of praise for God’s care-taking work of his children comes from the familiar words of Heidelberg Catechism, Lord’s Day 1, Question and Answer 1: “My only comfort in life and death [is] that I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil...Because I belong to him, Christ by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes we wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.”
This great truth is explained more completely by Belgic Confession, Article 20. God has given his Son to die for us “…by a most perfect love, and raising him to life for our justification, in order that by him, we might have immortality and eternal life.” And in Article 21, “…He endured all this for the forgiveness of our sins.” For this redemptive work we give praise and adoration.

Mighty to Save
Hymn Story/Background
Creativity abounds in the kitchen, and not just with food. Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan were in Morgan’s kitchen one day, working on a song that had hit a dead end. Another melody came out of nowhere, and together the two formed this melody into a chorus: “He is mighty to save.” Morgan wanted to repeat this chorus again and again, but Fielding said, “We need more lyrics, man…we need something to save!” Based on Zephaniah 3:17, the song speaks of God’s love and compassion. It was released in July, 2006, and in 2009 won a Dove Award for Worship Song of the Year.

Author and Composer Information
Ben Fielding is one of the main worship leaders at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. He has written a number of songs with Hillsong, including “Stronger,” “Grace Abounds,” and “Stand in Awe.” He and his wife Karalee have a son.
Reuben Morgan is the Worship Pastor at Hillsong Church in London. Before this he was Worship Pastor at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, replacing Darlene Zchech in 2008. In the late 1990s, Morgan helped lead and develop the worship team for Hillsong’s Youth Group, Powerhouse. This band eventually grew into Hillsong United. Some of Morgan’s better known songs include “Hear our Praises,” “My Redeemer Lives,” and “Lord I Give You My Heart.” He released his first solo worship album, World Through Your Eyes, in 2005. He and his wife Sarah have three children.
