126. Through Wondrous Grace

1 There is joy in serving Jesus,
When we serve with loving hearts;
If we do his will sincerely
He this wondrous joy imparts.
Then, when sorrow overtakes us
Like a tempest on the sea,
We shall hear his gracious promise,
“As thy days thy strength shall be!”

Chorus:
There is peace and joy abounding,
That the world cannot displace;
All are ours thro’ trusting, serving;
All are ours thro’ wondrous grace!

2 There is peace that passeth knowledge,
That the world cannot receive,
By the Holy Spirit given,
To the souls that will believe;
When temptations break like billows
O’er the loving, trusting heart,
Still in peace he sweetly keeps them,
Bidding all their doubts depart! [Chorus]

3 There is rest for souls that struggle
With the burden of their sin,
For the blood of Christ availeth,
And will make them pure within!
Then, tho’ grievous are the burdens
That are daily laid on thee,
You may prove his gracious promise,
“As thy days thy strength shall be!” [Chorus]
