1 Watch, for the hour is coming
When the Master shall come again;
With a shining band from the heav’nly land,
He will come, evermore to reign.

Then may we all be ready for that great and glorious day;

Since that day is known unto God alone,
Let us always watch and pray.

2 Glorious will be His coming,
But no one knows the day or hour;
No, not angels bright in that world of light,
When the Lord shall descend with power. [Refrain]

3 Quickly the hour is coming,
When again from that far-off land
He shall come and call for His servants all,
And before Him we then must stand. [Refrain]

4 “Watch, for the hour is coming,”
Is the charge he has left for all;
Still your vigils keep, nor be found asleep
When He sends forth the solemn call. [Refrain]
