166. He Took Every Burden Away

1 In sorrow I came to the Saviour one day,
My heart was all broken with sin;
I prayed that the burden be taken away,
And quickly He spoke peace within.

Refrain:
He took ev’ry burden away,
He took ev’ry burden away;
His love, so divine, shall forever be mine,
He took ev’ry burden away.

2 I follow Him now wheresoever He leads,
Rejoicing in His love divine;
Through wonderful grace He supplies all my needs
And many rich blessings are mine. [Refrain]

3 And now His sweet praise in my soul ne’er shall cease,
I love Him each day more and more;
His mercies and blessings shall daily increase,
Until all my labors are o’er. [Refrain]
