90. God, if you bless not, all the cost

God, if you bless not, all the cost
and pains to build the house are lost;
cities must all be in your keep,
or watchful guards as well may sleep.

It’s all in vain, till you have blessed;
you make us rich, yet give us rest.
Children and friends are blessings too,
when you, our Sovereign, make them so.

Happy the ones to whom God sends
obedient children, faithful friends!
How sweet our daily comforts prove,
when you have blessed them with your love.
