Text: | My eyes and my desire |
Author: | Isaac Watts |
Tune: | EVENING SHADE NEW |
Composer: | Joseph Herl |
My eyes and my desire
are ever to you, Lord;
I love to plead your promises,
and rest upon your word.
When shall the sovereign grace
of my forgiving God
restore me from the dangerous ways
my wandering feet have trod?
God, keep my soul from sin,
nor put my hope to shame;
for I have placed my only trust
in my Redeemer’s name.
With humble faith I wait
to see your face again;
I know it never shall be said
I seek the Lord in vain.
