98. Jesus the Savior

1 Jesus shed His blood for me;
Suffered shame on Calvary,
Suffered death that I might live,
And the Father me forgive.
When my heart the cross beheld,
Sin's delusions were dispelled,
And my weary soul has rest
On the blessed Savior's breast.

2 Weary with the cares of life,
Fainting in its bitter strife,
I at last to Christ appealed,
And my weariness was healed.
Oh, He gives me in the way
Strength sufficient day by day,
And whate'er the day unfold,
I can meet with courage bold.

3 Oh, poor sinful, sinking soul,
Over whom the billows roll,
Lift to jesus Christ a prayer,
He will save thee from despair.
Cry from out the raging sea
"Jesus Savior, rescue me!"
He, thy soul will fully save,
Thou shall triumph o'er the grave.
