1 Choose the upward road that will surely lead
To rest in the land above;
Choose the blessed portion of joy and peace
That comes through the Savior’s love.

Follow on where Jesus has led the way,
And trust his unfailing care;
Till you pass beyond the celestial gates,
His glory divine to share.

2 Shun the broad highway that will lead you down
To darkness and lasting woe;
Shut the load of guilt, the despair and grief,

3 When your journey ends, if you tread the way
Made plain through the Savior’s grace,
You will sing his praise with the ransomed throng,
