Text: | God’s Children Cannot Die |
Author: | Mrs. J. M. Hunter |
Tune: | [The weakening pulse the shortening breath] |
Composer: | Adam Geibel |
1 The weak’ning pulse, the short’ning breath,
The last, faint flutt’ring sigh,
Why do we weep and call it death?
God’s children cannot die.
Refrain:
God’s children cannot die,
They live with Him above,
Still faithful be, and by and by,
We’ll meet the friends we love.
2 ‘Tis but the entrance into life,
With Jesus ever nigh,
‘Tis leaving toil and sin and strife,
God’s children cannot die. [Refrain]
3 ‘Tis op’ning wide earth’s prison bars,
That spirit wings may fly,
‘Tis soaring past the sun and stars,
God’s children cannot die. [Refrain]
4 ‘Tis but a blessed going home
To that fair land on high,
‘Tis hearing Jesus whisper “Come”—
God’s children cannot die. [Refrain]
5 O, life above, O, joys that glow
Beyond the sunset sky,
How can we call it death to go,
God’s children cannot die. [Refrain]
