671b | The Hymnal, Revised and Enlarged, as adopted by the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America in the year of our Lord 1892#672a | 672b |
Text: | Blest be the tie that binds |
Author: | Rev. John Fawcett |
Tune: | [Blest be the tie that binds] |
Composer: | John H. Gower, Mus. Doc. |
1 Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Jesus' love;
The fellowship of Christian minds
Is like to that above.
2 Before our Father's throne
We pour united prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
Our comforts and our cares.
3 We share our mutual woes;
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
4 When we at death must part,
Not like the world's our pain;
But one in Christ, and one in heart,
We part to meet again.
5 From sorrow, toil, and pain,
And sin, we shall be free;
And perfect love and friendship reign
Throughout eternity.
Amen.
