547 | The Hymnal, Revised and Enlarged, as adopted by the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America in the year of our Lord 1892#548 | 549 |
Text: | God Almighty, in Thy temple |
Author: | Rev. R. H. Baynes |
Tune: | [God Almighty, in Thy temple] |
Composer: | Sir Joseph Barnby |
1 God Almighty, in thy temple
Low before Thy throne we bow;
From Thy dwelling-place in glory
Hear our supplications now,
While we offer
Earnest prayer and solemn vow.
2 Christ our Saviour, Thou Who carest
For the youngest of Thy fold,
Give us now Thy heavenly blessing,
As Thou didst in days of old;
Priceless treasure,
Richer far than gems or gold.
3 God the Holy Ghost, be near us;
Ever dwell our hearts within;
Keep them pure, and brave, and earnest,
Give us grace to conquer sin,
And through Jesus,
Heaven's eternal crown to win.
4 Holy Trinity, defend us
In a world with evil rife;
Let Thine angel-guards surround us
In each sore and bitter strife:
Oh, preserve us
Unto everlasting life!
Amen.
