268. My God, my only Help and Hope

1 My God, my only Help and Hope
My strong and sure Defence,
For all my safety and my peace
I bless Thy providence.

2 Lord, in the day Thou art about
The paths wherein I tread;
And in the night, when I lie down,
Thou art about my bed.

3 In Thee I live and move and am;
Thou deal’st me out my days;
As Thou renew’st my being, Lord,
Let me renew Thy praise.

4 Let me be ever good to Thine,
Who art so good to me;
Let Thine be mine, and mine be Thine,
And they twice mine shall be.

5 I have a God that changeth not,
Why should I be perplexed?
My God that owns me in this world,
Will own me in the next.

6 Go fearless, then, my soul, with God
Into another room;
Thou, who hast walkèd with Him here,
Go see Thy God at home.
