428. The Last Chance

1 Do you hear the voice of God
As He calleth now to thee,
Hear Him speak in tenderest tones,
As He calls to mercy free;
Oft He calls thee to His breast,
And He offers to thy soul,
Weary with its burden, rest sweet rest.

Refrain:
There is a last chance for salvation,
Do you not hear Him tenderly calling—
Urgently calling, long He has waited,
Turn, O sinner ere it is too late.

2 Many times the voice has come,
Calling thee from paths of sin,
Knocking at the heart’s-door loud,
Pleading that you let Him in;
Yet you’ve turned Him from your heart,
By your sin you’ve barred the door,
You have caused the Spirit to depart. [Refrain]

3 Now’s the time to let Him in,
While He calls to thee today;
Open wide the heart’s-door now,
Ere He turns from thee away;
All the lost souls now that die.
In the land of deep despair,
Let their last chance to be saved pass by. [Refrain]

4 Now I see my life’s mistake,
And I’m coming to the Lord
It is "now's the time" to come,
So I read His blessed word;
Now I come my heart to cast
At the blessed Saviour’s feet,
For I fear this chance will be the last.

Lord, I am coming, yes I'm coming,
Down at Thy feet I patiently linger,
Jesus receive me, cleanse and relieve me,
I am coming now without delay.
