275. In the Meekness of the Spirit

1 In the meekness of the Spirit,
In the power of the Lord,
In the gentleness of Jesus,
In the wisdom of His word;
I am living, daily living,
By the strength of heav'nly grace,
In the shadow of His glory,
And the shining of His face.

Refrain:
Glory! glory! I am free!
Sin no more reigns over me!
God, the God of liberty,
Keeps me sweetly, safely hidden in His word.

2 When the days are dark and gloomy,
They are ever light within;
Tho' temptations press me sorely,
Christ delivers me from sin;
Tho' He leads me thro' the valley,
Oft with trials sore beset;
My poor soul, amid the shadows,
Trusts His glorious leading yet. [Refrain]

3 I am happy, I assure you,
I am not ashamed to own
That my life belongs to Jesus,
Yes, to Jesus Christ alone;
And He keeps me, daily keeps me
In the Spirit of His pow'r,
Sanctifying me each moment,
Safely guiding ev'ry hour. [Refrain]
