214. Content, O Lord

1 Content, O Lord, and free from fear,
I calmly trust in Thee;
I murmur not within the sphere
Thy love assigns to me.

2 I leave to Thy disposing hand,
Events I cannot mold;
With steadfast faith serene I stand,
And see Thy plan unfold.

3 The service which the Master finds,
It is my joy to share;
The burden which Thy wisdom binds,
With patient hope I bear.

4 To duty's call the voice of God,
My heart responsive cries;
Beneath affliction's chastening rod,
My soul submissive lies.

Amen.
